At Pink Petal Books we believe that love is a beautiful thing, and what’s more romantic than receiving flowers? Of course, giving flowers doesn’t have to be romantic, but isn’t it more fun when it is? Pink Petal Books seeks well-written romance stories starting with one character receiving flowers. The flowers can be received for any reason, and they don’t necessarily need to be received from the other major character(s) in the story.

Each themed anthology will contain three to four 15,000-25,000 word novellas released first as individual ebooks, then published together into one print volume. Heat levels in each story need to start at sensual and work up to erotic. On the Pink Petal Books scale these will be rose or cosmos stories, with partially or fully explored love scenes. Language may range from the occasional frank or graphic language to no holds barred.

Our first anthology will be Pink Petal Books Presents: Shifters. All stories need to contain a shifter as either the hero or heroine. Different shifters preferred. Think about animals you haven’t seen in books, or seen very rarely, and use your imagination. You can submit a wolf, but preference will be given to the different animals, so the wolf story should be exceptional and new. Deadline for stories will be July 15 with decisions made by August 1. Electronic publication will happen during our official launch month of October, with print publication to follow in February 2009.

As long as your story starts with a character receiving flowers and fits the theme and sensuality level, there are no other restrictions on genre.

Payment will be 35% royalty on sales price for ebooks (except stories sold through third party vendors, which will be 45% of net (sales price - vendor cut = net). Print books will be our standard 10% royalty split between the three or four authors in the volume.

Submissions are open to all authors, currently published with Liquid Silver Books and those wishing to be published with Liquid Silver Books. All works must be new material, previously published works will not be considered. Three novellas will be accepted for this anthology.

Submission length is minimum 15,000 words up to 30,000 words. Any genre will be accepted, as long as Halloween is the background for the story. We are looking for quality submissions that meet our criteria for distinctive erotic romance between a man and a woman. For this anthology we are looking for a HEA and/or a dedicated commitment between the hero and heroine. This anthology is slated for our Liquid line. Open submissions for this anthology through June 30th, the final decision will be announced July 14th. Do you have a bad boy Cajun hero who would make any woman weak in the knees? We are looking for three stories of all levels of sensuality for our Bad Boys of the Bayou Anthology.  Blade Publishing will be releasing an anthology with three authors.

We are open to any romance genre (historical, paranormal, contemporary,etc.). Since we are looking for romances, there must be a happily ever after for the main characters.

Submissions are open to both previously published and unpublished authors.  Submissions must be new material and must not have been previously published elsewhere. Royalties will be divided between the three authors with each receiving 15%.

To submit, please include first three chapters, a 1 to 2 page synopsis and a query letter.

Call for submissions: Samhain Publishing Tickle My Fantasy Anthology
Demons, vamps, werewolves, ghosties, ghoulies and things that go bump in the night. We love to love them, but can they make us laugh, too?

I’m very pleased to announce an open call for submissions for a new anthology. I’m looking for contemporary paranormal romances with a strong humorous voice. I’m open to any paranormal creature, but it has to be funny, and it has to be romantic.

The anthology will include novellas from 18,000 to 20,000 words in length and will be released individually as ebooks in February 2009 and packaged for a print release the following year.

Submissions are open to all authors, published with Samhain or aspiring to be published with Samhain. All submissions must be new material, previously published submissions will not be considered. Additionally, manuscripts previously submitted, whether individually or for past anthologies, will not be considered either. Please be aware that manuscripts submitted to this anthology cannot be resubmitted at a later date unless by invitation from an editor.

My first story under my new penname, Jessica Freely, is up at the Torquere Press site.  I am very pleased and excited about HERO, the first in what will hopefully be a long and entertaining series.

In HERO, David lives through books.  His real life is boring and nothing ever happens to him, that is until he's attacked on the way home from work.  Aid comes to him from the most unlikely of sources; a young homeless man named Seth.  In return David gets a chance to become in real life what he's only read about before; a hero.

Here's a short excerpt:

Slowly Seth came forward and took the eggs. He set them down on the counter and, giving David every opportunity to back away, he lifted one hand to David's cheek. David couldn't move. He was mesmerized by Seth's eyes, looking at him so tenderly. His thumb caressed David's cheek and David felt a twinge of pain. He gasped. The cut. They'd cut him. How had he managed to forget that? How was it he only felt it now, that Seth was touching him? He drew in a deep breath. He hadn't even looked in the mirror. "How bad is it?" he asked.
